AVENTURINE(BLUE)

Listing description
Aventurine is the star sign of Libra and the planetary stone of Taurus. Aventurine is the a translucent to opaque variety of microcrystalline quartz.

Detailed description
It contains small inclusions of shiny minerals which give the stone a sparking effect known as aventurescence.inclusions of mica will give a silverfish sheen, while inclusions of hematite give a reddish or grayish sparkle.
Aventurine ranges in color from green, peach, brown, blue and a creamy green. Besides its uses in jewelry, aventurine is also used for ornamental purposes like vases, bowls, and figurines.
Aventurine is found in india, chile, spain,Russia,Austria and Tanzania. It is a6.5 on the mohs scale of hardness. This mineral is often mistaken for amazonite or jade.
It is interesting that the name for the stone is derived from an accident.sometimee during the 18th century, venetian glass workers were preparing molten glass when copper filings accidentally fell into the batch producing a glass with sparkles. The name aventurine comes from the Italian ‘’a ventura,’’which means’’by chance’’.
Folklore,legend,and healing properties
Aventurine has been used as a lucky talisman and is popular stone for gamblers.
Legends say that it is an all-purpose healer, used to reduce stree, develop confidence, imagination and improve prosperity. a legend from ancient Tibet says that aventurine was used to improve nearsightedness and to increase the wearer’s creativity.
Many believe that aventurine has the capacity to calm a trouble spirit and bring about inner peace.
Aventurine is a form of quartz, characterized by its translucency and the presence of platy mineral inclusions that give a shimmering or glistening effect termed aventurescence.
The most common color of aventurine is green, but it may also be orange, brown, yellow, blue,or gray.chrome-bearingh fuchsite(a variety of muscovite mica)is the classic incusion, and gives a silvery green or blue sheen. Oranges and browns are attributed to hematite and goethite. Because aventurine is a rock, its physical properties vary: its specific gravity may lie between 2.64-2.69 and its hardness is somewhat lower than single-crystal quartz at around 6.5.
Aventurine feldspar or sunstone can be confused with orange and red aventurine quartzite, although the former is generally of a higher transparency. Aventurine is often banded and and an overabundance of fuchsite may render it opaque, in which case it may be mistaken for malachite at first glance.
The name aventurine derives from the Italian ‘’a venture’’ meaning ‘’by chance’’.this is an allusion to the lucky discovery of aventurine glass or goldstone at some point in the 18th century. although it was known firt.goldstone is now a common imitation of aventurine and sunstone. Goldstone is distinguished visually from the later two minerals by its coarse flecks of copper, dispersed within the glass in an unnaturally uniform manner. It is usually a golden brown, but may also be found in blue or green.
The majority of the green and the blue-green aventurine originates in India(particularly in the vicinity of my sore and madras)where it is employed by prolific artisans.cramy white, gray and orange material is found in chile, spain and Russia. Most material is carved into beads and figurines with only the finer examples fashioned into cabochons, later being set into jewelry.
Main markets for aventurine are landscape stone, building stone, aquqria, monuments, and jewellery.
